Full exhibition halls, crowds of people and happy faces at the exhibition stands – 22,000 visitors ensured a repeat of last year's record attendance at SachsenKrad 2019. From January 11 to 13, more than 130 exhibitors presented themselves at the 25th SachsenKrad on 10,000 square meters at Messe Dresden. Roland Zwerenz, managing director of the organizer ORTEC, is proud of the continuity and loyalty of dealers to the Dresden motorcycle show and emphasizes, “The diversity of exhibitors and the interest of visitors impressively confirm that the Dresden motorcycle show is equally attractive for Saxony's motorcyclists and dealers.”
Exhibitors and visitors agree: thumbs up for SachsenKrad 2019, which delivers what it promises. The trade fair marks the start of the motorcycle year, and only in Dresden are all the well-known manufacturers and their dealers represented, with 16 German premieres. The much-anticipated BMW S 1000 RR super sports bike, for example, celebrated its German premiere in Dresden, as did the BMW F 850 GS Adventure. Stefan Fricke, motorcycle expert at the BMW branch in Dresden, is thrilled: “The turnout at the show was huge. We sold a lot of bikes from our stand and even had customers coming from as far away as Berlin here in Dresden. We were very impressed by the overall visitor response to the show – in particular, the fact that all brands were represented was very positively received.” Honda presented the CB650R Neo Sports Cafe and Gold Wing Tour 2019. Jonny Vesely from Honda-Motorradhaus Zehren said: “We are once again satisfied with the number of visitors to the fair, and we had a constant demand for our entire product range at our stand.” KTM dealer Steffen Nather confirmed: “We are totally satisfied with the number of visitors, and the organization of SachsenKrad was once again excellent. Of course, visitors were most interested in our brand new models at our stand.” KTM presented the German premieres of the KTM 690 SMC R and the KTM 690 ENDURO as well as the Freeride E in Dresden. The demonstrations of the new KTM Freeride E in the Enduro area of the fair were always very popular.
The topic of electric mobility is continuing to gain momentum in the two-wheeler sector: in addition to the KTM Freeride-E, electric motorcycles from Zero Motorcycles and Super Soco, as well as the new Vespa Elettrica, were on display at SachsenKrad. The trend towards customizing as a way of life for individuality and emotionality was demonstrated by specialists such as the Dresden-based design company Hookie at this year's trade fair. Nico Müller from Hookie draws an initial conclusion: “We received a great deal of encouragement and interest from visitors here at SachsenKrad and are definitely satisfied. There were many questions about our retrofit kit in particular, as it is a completely new product.” Hookie had presented the new development of a Moto-Kit, with which you can give your BMW R NineT a different design every day.
SachsenKrad is both a cult and a tradition, and the whole spectrum of the Saxon motorcycle scene was on display at the trade fair this year, from the pocket bike club to Sachsenbike.e.V. This year's guests included Roberto Jahn, Saxony's motorcycle chaplain, globetrotter Daniel Rintz from Dresden, Lucy Glöckner from Zschopau, who is the only European woman to race in the Superbike class, and motorsport expert Bernd Fulk, who has been covering the SachsenKrad from the outset. One of the highlights of the SachsenKrad was the presentation of the Freudenberg RacingTeam from Saxony as a team in the Supersport 300 World Championship on January 12. Freudenberg is entering two teams – the SSP300 duo with riders Koen Meuffels and Maximilian Kappler, and a junior team with Jan-Ole Jahnig and Victor Steeman. Team manager Carsten Freudenberg said: “We are very pleased to be able to officially present our team here in Dresden. Not least the proximity to our team headquarters and to the Sachsenring make the SachsenKrad the perfect event for our presentation.” All those involved agree that the 2019 SachsenKrad has got off to a great start to the season and are counting on good motorcycle weather and a sustained increase in registrations this year, as well as on seeing everyone again in 2020. The next SachsenKrad will then take place from January 17 to 19, 2020 at Messe Dresden.
